Overland Park, Kansas — BRR Architecture has been recognized by AIA-Kansas as the 2022 Firm of the Year. The award recognizes one firm every two years; the chapter and awards jury selects a firm that has “made great contributions to the built environment and profession of architecture through notable architectural work and has established a positive presence in the state of Kansas.”
BRR is the largest architecture firm in the state with a 55+ year history of practicing architecture. The firm’s headquarters are based in Overland Park; BRR worked with EPC Real Estate Group to design and build its headquarters in Downtown Overland Park — Avenue 82 — in 2019. To date, BRR has hired 68 new employees and manages more than 45 projects across the state.
The company has marked several recent and significant achievements. In January, Mariah Meyer, AIA was named as the firm’s first female President CEO. The Kansas City Business Journal also named BRR as a finalist in the 2022 Best Places to Work competition. Two BRR leaders, Jennifer Lehmkuhl-Corkrean and Jessica Kim, were recognized by retail industry magazines as emerging leaders in retail design. Finally, as a testament of BRR’s commitment to the industry, the firm supports more than 20 teammates who currently are in the process of sitting for their ARE exams.
“We’re so honored to receive this incredible award from AIA-Kansas, an organization that is a trusted resource in our industry,” said Mariah Meyer, AIA, President & CEO of BRR. “This award and these achievements wouldn’t have happened without our phenomenal team, many of whom graduated from Kansas-based universities. We have always maintained that we are a Kansas firm, and we maintain a steadfast commitment to the profession of architecture and to the state.”
Currently, BRR is the Architect of Record on several high-profile Kansas-based projects including a new Whole Foods Market in Overland Park, Kansas; The Hudson multi-family development in Kansas City, Kansas; and Leawood Village in Leawood, Kansas. The company will mark its 60th anniversary in 2023.
