Cedar Port Logistics Center II
- Baytown, TX
After the success of their first logistics center, Capital Development Partners tasked BRR to design a sister facility on the same site nearby. Cedar Port Logistics Center II sits on a 90-acre site in Baytown, Texas, strategically placed near the Houston Port Authority. However, the new facility features one unique distinction – railway to semi-truck cross-dock access.
The 800,405 square-foot facility is 1,900 feet long and backs up directly to railroad tracks for easy access to Union Pacific and BNSF rail cars. Products from both rail companies will enter the facility on one side, go through processing inside, be loaded onto semi-truck docks on the other side and then prepared for shipment. Our design team took efficiency into heavy consideration while deeply collaborating with railway engineers to make this systematic process possible.
The building was constructed with site-cast panels poured directly on-site to eliminate a portion of the transportation costs associated with the materials. The dried panels were then tilted up by cranes into their permanent vertical positions. BRR led the project design from design development through CD production and served as a construction administration point of contact.
